Jennifer Aniston’s Priceless Reaction as Reese Witherspoon Reveals Her Real Name Is Not Reese

Date:

Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston was left completely surprised when her The Morning Show co-star Reese Witherspoon revealed that “Reese” isn’t actually her real first name. The revelation came during a fun game of LADBible’s Do You Even Know Me?, where the actresses were promoting the fourth season of their Apple TV+ hit series.

Reese shocked fans and Jennifer alike by admitting her real name is Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon. She explained that “Reese” is actually her mother Betty’s maiden name, which she decided to use when starting her acting career in the 1990s.

Jennifer’s reaction was hilarious and genuine. When Reese asked her to guess her middle name—giving options Jane, Jean, or Joan—Jennifer confidently guessed Jane. Reese then revealed, “It is confusing. I am Laura Jean.” Jennifer immediately exclaimed, “Laura? Who’s Laura? I am not calling you that! Where did Reese come from?” making the moment even more entertaining.

Witherspoon is not the only celebrity who uses a stage name instead of a birth name. Emma Stone was born Emily Jean Stone but adopted “Emma” to avoid confusion when joining the Screen Actors Guild. Tom Cruise, born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV, shortened his name before becoming a Hollywood superstar. Similarly, Helen Mirren was originally Ilynea Lydia Mironoff, but her family anglicized the surname Mironoff to Mirren.

Lady Gaga’s name also has an interesting story. She was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, but a producer once texted her about Queen’s hit “Radio Gaga.” Thanks to autocorrect, it became “Lady Gaga,” and the name stuck. Nicolas Cage, born Nicolas Coppola, changed his surname to avoid nepotism claims linked to his famous uncle Francis Ford Coppola. Inspired by the comic book hero Luke Cage, Nicolas created his now-iconic stage name.

Stage names often help stars build unique identities, avoid confusion, and stand out in Hollywood. They not only highlight the transformation of personal identity but also reveal the creative ways celebrities present themselves to the world.
