Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner, widely known for portraying Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is facing serious allegations from Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou. Zhou has claimed that Renner sent her unwanted explicit messages and later threatened to contact U.S. immigration authorities during a private dispute. She posted her accusations publicly on social media this week, stating that the incidents occurred in 2025 while they were collaborating professionally.
Zhou says that their communication began earlier this year when Renner unexpectedly reached out. She alleges that the interaction soon turned inappropriate, including what she describes as unsolicited explicit images sent through messaging platforms. Zhou also says they entered a personal relationship while developing two projects together, including a documentary, but tensions escalated during a meeting at Renner’s home in Nevada.
In statements shared online and with media outlets, Zhou says Renner became extremely upset after consuming alcohol, yelling aggressively for an extended period. She claims she felt unsafe, locked herself inside a room, and shared her location with her team and family out of fear that the situation might worsen. Text messages presented by Zhou reportedly show her expressing concern, referring to Renner as violent and indicating she was afraid.
Zhou alleges that when she confronted the actor about his behavior, Renner threatened to report her to immigration authorities as leverage. She says his message referenced notifying immigration services, which she describes as an attempt to intimidate her. Zhou, originally from Shanghai and later raised in Europe, now works internationally as an artist and filmmaker.
Renner has previously faced separate accusations during his past marriage, which he has denied. He continues to share custody of his daughter from that relationship. As of now, Jeremy Renner has not issued a public response regarding Yi Zhou’s recent statements, and no legal action has been confirmed in connection with these new allegations.
