Netflix has officially renewed the gripping outdoor crime drama Untamed for a second season, and fans can rejoice—Eric Bana is returning as Kyle Turner. Following the massive success of Season 1, which quickly climbed into Netflix’s Top 10, the streaming giant is ready to dive into a new chapter of this intense wilderness saga.
Season 2 will see Turner step away from the familiar terrain of Yosemite National Park, where he cracked his most personal case yet. Now, he’s entering an entirely new national park where the rules are different, the landscape is unfamiliar, and the mystery is even more unsettling. Turner will no longer be the expert—he’ll be on uncertain ground, both physically and emotionally.
Eric Bana expressed his excitement about the return of the series, saying he’s thrilled to bring Kyle Turner back to life. “The love Season 1 received was overwhelming. Our entire team poured heart and soul into it. I’m excited to explore what’s next for Turner in a new, challenging environment,” Bana said in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum.
According to series co-creators Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, the next location will be far more disorienting for Turner. Unlike Yosemite, where he was completely in sync with the environment, the new setting will unsettle him. “This time, we want the park to throw him off,” Mark L. Smith shared. “We want to see what happens when Kyle doesn’t have all the answers.”
The national park itself is expected to play a central role in Season 2—not just as a backdrop, but as a key part of the story. Elle Smith added, “Each national park tells a different story. It has its own culture, terrain, and spirit. That’s what makes this show so immersive—we explore Turner’s journey through these wild, unpredictable places.”
As for returning characters, it remains unclear whether Season 1 favorites such as Lily Santiago’s Naya Vasquez will make an appearance. The creators are still working out those details. However, viewers can expect a fresh lineup of characters—some allies, some obstacles—all woven into a new case that feels authentic to the new location.
The creators hinted that the new mystery will be deeply tied to the unique geography and culture of the new park, offering a narrative that is as raw and intense as the landscape itself. Instead of reusing old tropes, they promise an organic storyline that evolves with the terrain.
Season 2 of Untamed is currently in development, and more details are expected to be revealed soon. For fans of intense crime dramas, breathtaking natural settings, and complex characters, the next season promises to be even more thrilling.
