Netflix’s House of Guinness Season 2: Steven Knight Teases Future of the Period Drama

Date:

Netflix’s latest historical drama House of Guinness has quickly caught global attention since its premiere on September 25. Created by Steven Knight, best known for Peaky Blinders, the series explores the turbulent lives of the Guinness family heirs following the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, grandson of Arthur Guinness, founder of the iconic brewery.

The first season, spanning eight episodes, centers on Sir Benjamin’s four adult children — Arthur (Anthony Boyle), Edward (Louis Partridge), Anne (Emily Fairn), and Ben (Fionn O’Shea). Each sibling receives a unique inheritance from their father’s will, but dissatisfaction sparks conflict, betrayal, and drama, leaving audiences with a cliffhanger ending.

Steven Knight on the show’s future

In interviews with Netflix Tudum and ScreenRant, Knight suggested there’s far more story to tell. He explained that season one was just the beginning, adding: “In a perfect world, I’d like to take it all the way into the 20th century. There’s enough material to keep us going for years.”

During a September screening in Dublin, Knight reportedly confirmed his long-term vision. According to the Irish Mirror, he told fans: “Yes, of course. We are going to do seasons two, and three, and four. Yes absolutely, we are going to take this story to the 1960s.”

Will the cast return?

While Netflix has not yet made an official announcement about renewal, the cast seems eager to continue. Anthony Boyle, who plays Arthur Guinness, told The Mirror that he would be “overjoyed” to reprise his role, praising the scripts, directors, and final outcome of the series.

His enthusiasm reflects a wider readiness from the ensemble, suggesting that if Netflix gives the green light, the Guinness family saga will continue with familiar faces leading the drama.

What fans can expect

Though unconfirmed, the possibility of multiple future seasons points to a long journey ahead, tracing the Guinness legacy deeper into the 20th century. With Knight’s proven storytelling and Netflix’s global reach, the series is positioned to become another long-running hit in the period drama genre.

For now, fans must wait for Netflix’s official decision. However, Knight’s confidence and the cast’s excitement provide strong hints that the Guinness dynasty’s tale is only beginning.
