Apple is preparing an upgraded version of the HomePod Mini, bringing major internal improvements that aim to boost speed audio quality and overall smart home responsiveness. The refreshed compact smart speaker is reportedly set to feature a far more powerful processor along with advanced wireless connectivity options positioning it as a stronger and more efficient companion within Apple’s home ecosystem.
The current HomePod Mini released in 2020 runs on Apple’s S5 chip but reports suggest the upcoming model may adopt the S9 chip or an even newer S10 variant. Both chips are based on the A13 Bionic architecture offering noticeable gains in CPU GPU and Neural Engine capabilities. These upgrades are expected to result in quicker Siri interactions smoother real time audio processing and better handling of multiple smart home commands. Enhanced computational audio would also allow the speaker to adapt sound profiles more accurately depending on room conditions or the type of content being played.
Connectivity is also expected to see a major leap. Apple may include its N1 wireless chip which brings support for Wi-Fi 6E improved latency and a more stable connection across complex home networks. This upgrade could significantly benefit users with multiple smart devices by reducing interference and providing faster data throughput. Bluetooth improvements are also anticipated as part of the updated wireless system.
Visual updates may accompany the internal enhancements. Alongside existing options like Blue Yellow Midnight Orange and White Apple is reportedly testing a new red colour finish for the next-gen model. While the speaker may not include Apple Intelligence features the upgrade would align the device more closely with Apple’s modern smart home strategy. Retail listings suggesting the discontinuation of the current model support expectations that a new HomePod Mini will arrive soon.
