NHS Surgeon Shares 3-Ingredient Fibre-Rich Dessert That Boosts Gut and Brain Health

Date:

Looking for a guilt-free sweet treat? Dr. Karan Rajan, a UK-based NHS surgeon and health content creator, has revealed a simple three-ingredient dessert that is both delicious and packed with fibre and antioxidants. This DIY snack supports gut health, boosts brain function, and contains more fibre than five slices of whole wheat bread.

The recipe requires only frozen raspberries, high-cocoa dark chocolate, and crushed pistachios. Start by breaking frozen raspberries into individual pieces and placing them on parchment paper. Melt 70 to 80 percent dark chocolate and pour it over the berries. Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle crushed pistachios on top. Freeze for at least one hour to let the dessert firm up, then enjoy.

According to Dr. Rajan, the combination of ingredients makes this snack a powerhouse for gut and brain health. Raspberries provide soluble fibre and polyphenols that act as prebiotics, supporting the gut microbiome and cognitive function. Dark chocolate contains flavanols, which help blood flow and enhance brain performance. Pistachios contribute additional prebiotic fibre, healthy fats, and polyphenols, increasing fibre diversity and supporting overall wellness.

With just three ingredients, this easy-to-make dessert offers a nutrient-rich alternative to traditional sweets, turning indulgence into a healthy snack that benefits both your digestive system and mental clarity.
