Nicole Kidman has reportedly applied for a solo residency in Portugal, a move that has reignited rumors about marital troubles with her husband Keith Urban. According to Radar Online, the Oscar-winning actress is determined to start a new chapter in Europe, and sources suggest that Urban is not part of her plans.
The development comes after nearly two decades of marriage between the Hollywood star and the country music icon. The couple, who wed in 2006 following a whirlwind romance in 2005, have often navigated long-distance due to their busy careers. But Kidman’s decision to pursue residency in Portugal alone is seen as a clear sign that their relationship may be under strain.
Reports claim that Kidman’s application, filed at the Portuguese Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum, includes only her name. She is also said to be considering the purchase of a luxury property at the prestigious Costa Terra Golf and Ocean Club Resort.
Meanwhile, insiders told People Magazine that Keith Urban’s absence during the immigration meetings was due to his ongoing US concert tour. Still, speculation continues to mount as friends of the couple expressed shock over the situation.
“Nicole and Keith have always projected a picture-perfect marriage,” one source told Radar Online. “For her to make such a move without him has raised alarm bells. While they may smile for the cameras, privately things may not be as stable.”
Friends of the pair are reportedly surprised, as the couple has long been admired for their strong bond despite demanding careers. Kidman and Urban share two daughters, Sunday and Faith, and have previously credited their family life as the foundation of their relationship.
As of now, neither Kidman nor Urban has addressed the rumors publicly, leaving fans and the media to speculate whether her Portugal move signals a fresh start or simply a practical step in her international lifestyle.
