Nobody Wants This Season 2 Review: Kristen Bell and Adam Brody Struggle to Keep Netflix Romcom Afloat

Date:

The second season of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This returns with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody reprising their roles as Joanne and Noah, but this time the magic that made Season 1 charming feels a bit lost. What once felt like a refreshing romantic comedy about love, faith, and compromise now turns into a slightly messy and inconsistent follow-up.

Season 2 continues the story of Noah, a rabbi played by Adam Brody, and Joanne (Kristen Bell), as they navigate their evolving relationship. Their chemistry remains natural and sincere, but the writing feels scattered and rushed. The show tries to explore meaningful themes like faith, family expectations, and emotional maturity, yet it never dives deep enough to make a lasting impact.

The plot sees Noah facing challenges at work after Joanne refuses to convert, which strains their relationship. Meanwhile, family drama unfolds as Joanne’s sister, played by Justine Lupe, makes unexpected decisions that complicate things further. The show attempts to balance humor with heartfelt emotions but ends up juggling too many storylines at once.

Despite having strong leads, Nobody Wants This Season 2 struggles with pacing and character development. The introduction of new characters, including Leighton Meester’s brief cameo, adds little to the narrative. The episodes rely heavily on situational setups like Valentine’s Day and Halloween rather than emotional continuity. While Bell and Brody’s chemistry remains undeniable, the storytelling lacks the spark and heart that made Season 1 work so well.

Ultimately, Season 2 of Nobody Wants This is easy to watch but hard to love. It tries too hard to recreate the magic of the first season without offering anything fresh. The series feels repetitive, over-planned, and at times frustratingly shallow. Still, fans of Kristen Bell and Adam Brody might stick around just to enjoy their on-screen charm.

The second season of Nobody Wants This is now streaming on Netflix.
