Nothing has officially confirmed that the Phone 3a Community Edition will debut later this month, marking the brand’s second smartphone developed in collaboration with its global community. This year’s project received an impressive 700 creative submissions, and four winning creators were selected to help shape the device’s hardware concept, accessories, visual elements, and marketing design. The company shared that this extended development cycle allowed for a more refined and unified approach compared to the previous edition.
The Phone 3a Community Edition is scheduled to launch on December 9 at 1pm GMT (6:30pm IST). Nothing announced this through a press release, highlighting its continued commitment to involving users directly in the product creation process. The updated format revealed all selected creators at the same time and followed a nine-month collaboration timeline. The winners were flown to London to work closely with the Nothing team, participating in numerous design meetings and contributing to core aspects of the project. Each winner will receive a GBP 1,000 reward for their contribution.
Last year’s community-developed smartphone, the Nothing Phone 2a Plus Community Edition, was the company’s first device co-created with users. It launched in India in October 2024 and featured a glow-in-the-dark finish with green phosphorescent coating. Only 1,000 units were sold globally across India, the UK, Europe, and the US. Its 12GB + 256GB model launched at Rs. 29,999, making it one of the most distinctive limited-edition phones from the brand.
Meanwhile, the standard Nothing Phone 3a, which arrived in India earlier this year, continues to attract buyers with its combination of clean design and performance features. Available in Black Blue and White, the device is priced at Rs. 22,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant and Rs. 24,999 for the 8GB + 256GB option. It includes a 6.7-inch flexible AMOLED panel, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, and runs Android 15 with NothingOS 3.1. The camera system consists of a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto unit, and an 8MP ultrawide camera, paired with a 32MP front shooter. A 5,000mAh battery with 50W fast charging powers the phone, and it offers exclusive features like 10 new ringtones, Glyph Timer, Essential Notifications, and Glyph Composer. The series recently received the Nothing OS 4.0 update, introducing enhanced functionality and visual improvements.
