Novak Djokovic Set to Clash With Carlos Alcaraz in ATP Finals Group Stage in Turin

Date:

Novak Djokovic is set for a highly anticipated showdown with Carlos Alcaraz during the group stage of the ATP Finals in Turin, as the final tournament of the men’s tennis season prepares to begin on Sunday. The Serbian star, a seven-time champion at the prestigious year-end event, has been placed in the Jimmy Connors Group alongside top seed Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur in what promises to be an exciting contest for semi-final qualification.

Djokovic, currently world number five, continues to chase more success after lifting his 100th career title earlier this year. The 24-time Grand Slam winner has reached the semi-finals at all four majors this season and is aiming to finish the year by adding another ATP trophy to his collection.

On the other side, Carlos Alcaraz arrives in Italy after another standout year that includes winning both the US Open and Roland Garros, the latter achieved with a memorable victory over rival Jannik Sinner in the final. The young Spaniard has yet to capture the ATP Finals crown and will be motivated to change that this season.

Defending champion Jannik Sinner leads the Bjorn Borg Group as he attempts to retain his title in front of a passionate Italian home crowd. The world number one has enjoyed the best season of his career, winning the Australian Open, Wimbledon and several other tournaments. He could potentially face countryman Lorenzo Musetti, who must still secure qualification by winning the current event in Athens. Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton are confirmed as the other two players in Sinner’s group.

Only the top two players from each group will progress to the semi-finals, setting up high-stakes battles throughout the round-robin stage as the world’s elite compete to end the season on top.
