Orthopaedic Expert Reveals 3 Essential Nutrients Every Woman in Her 20s Should Include to Stay Youthful and Delay Aging by 15 Years

Date:

Your 20s are the foundation of your lifelong health, and the food choices you make now can define how you look, feel, and age in the future. According to Dr. Manan Vora, an orthopaedic surgeon, health educator, and co-founder of NutriByte Wellness, women in their 20s who focus on proper nutrition can delay visible signs of aging by up to 15 years.

In a recent video shared on Instagram, Dr. Vora emphasized that maintaining a nutrient-rich diet during your early adulthood not only enhances energy and bone strength but also ensures hormonal balance and long-term vitality. He highlighted three crucial nutrients that are easily available through Indian staple foods — calcium, iron, and protein — which together support strong bones, better metabolism, and healthy aging.

1. Calcium

Calcium plays a key role in strengthening bones and joints during your 20s. Dr. Vora recommends adding calcium-rich foods such as dahi, paneer, and ragi to your daily meals. He explains, “During your 20s, your bones are still developing. If calcium intake is insufficient, bone weakness and early joint pain can occur — something many women experience later due to poor dietary habits in youth.”

2. Iron

Iron is essential for women’s overall health, especially for energy levels and menstrual balance. Foods such as spinach, chickpeas, and beetroot are natural sources of iron. Dr. Vora points out that iron deficiency is common among Indian women and can lead to fatigue, hair loss, and irregular periods. Maintaining adequate iron levels supports stamina and reduces the risk of anemia.

3. Protein

Protein is vital for maintaining muscle mass, improving metabolism, and preventing early weight gain. “Protein not only builds lean muscle but also keeps your metabolism active, which helps avoid the weight gain that commonly occurs as women age,” says Dr. Vora. Including protein sources like eggs, lentils, tofu, and milk ensures that the body remains toned, energetic, and resilient.

The Bottom Line

Women in their 20s can take charge of their aging process through consistent nutrition, hydration, and fitness. A balanced diet rich in calcium, iron, and protein can delay the onset of age-related issues by as much as 15 years. The earlier you start, the stronger your body will remain through your 40s and 50s.
