Starz has officially renewed Outlander: Blood of My Blood for a second season, demonstrating strong confidence in the series even before its first episode airs. The much-anticipated prequel to the beloved Outlander franchise is scheduled to premiere on August 8, 2025, but its Season 2 has already entered production, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Blood of My Blood explores the deep-rooted origins of the iconic Outlander characters through two parallel love stories. One storyline is set in 18th-century Scotland, focusing on Ellen MacKenzie (played by Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy)—the future parents of Outlander‘s lead Jamie Fraser (portrayed in the original by Sam Heughan). The second storyline unfolds in World War I-era Britain, chronicling the romance of Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), who would go on to become the parents of Claire Randall (played by Caitríona Balfe in the main series).

The decision to greenlight Season 2 ahead of the show’s premiere highlights Starz’s strong faith in the show’s narrative strength and its enduring fanbase. Matthew B. Roberts, the series’ showrunner and executive producer, praised the exceptional commitment and talent of the cast and crew. He expressed optimism that fans will fall in love with the new couples just as passionately as they did with Jamie and Claire.

Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at Starz, emphasized that Blood of My Blood expands the Outlander universe while staying true to the emotional depth and historical richness that define the franchise. According to her, this next chapter will captivate fans with powerful love stories and immersive storytelling.

The cast also includes Tony Curran, Rory Alexander, Séamus McLean Ross, Sam Retford, and Conor MacNeill. The show is produced by Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg, continuing the legacy of high production standards and engaging scripts.

Meanwhile, the original Outlander series—based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling novels—is approaching its final season. Though the exact release date is yet to be revealed, the conclusion is set to provide a fitting close to the saga, even as Blood of My Blood paves the way for new adventures.

With the early renewal already in motion and production for Season 2 underway, fans of Outlander can rest assured that the story’s rich tapestry of historical drama and romantic intrigue is far from over.
