Paul Rudd Takes a Subtle Dig at Donald Trump While Discussing Avengers: Doomsday Secrecy

Date:

Actor Paul Rudd is making his return as Ant-Man in the upcoming Marvel Studios film Avengers: Doomsday. Following the official cast announcement, he appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where he humorously addressed the strict secrecy surrounding the film. In a lighthearted exchange, Rudd took a veiled jab at former U.S. President Donald Trump, referencing the recent Signalgate controversy involving classified military discussions.

Paul Rudd on Avengers: Doomsday and Secrecy

During the interview, Fallon asked Rudd about being introduced in the lineup with a tiny director’s chair, poking fun at his character’s shrinking abilities. Rudd quipped, “I thought it was clever. ‘Yes, I’m Ant-Man’. But honestly, having a tiny chair still makes me feel a little small.”

When pressed for details about the film’s storyline, Rudd responded, “There’s nothing I can tell you. Marvel is incredibly secretive, and rightfully so. This is a huge film. You can’t be careless with this information. It’s not like military secrets or anything, but it’s still important.”

Fallon jokingly added, “This isn’t something you just drop into a group chat,” to which Rudd responded“Exactly! It’s not like planning a coordinated attack somewhere.”

Rudd’s comment was a clear reference to Signalgate, a recent scandal in the U.S., where a journalist was mistakenly added to a Signal group chat discussing military operations in Yemen. The leak led to widespread criticism, with the Trump administration later dismissing the discussions as non-classified.
