PCB Questions ICC After Pakistan Captain Omitted from T20 World Cup Ticket Promotion

Date:

The Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the International Cricket Council following the omission of Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha from an official promotional poster released for T20 World Cup ticket sales. The visual campaign, launched ahead of the tournament in India and Sri Lanka, showcased only five team captains, leaving out Pakistan’s leader despite the team’s global profile and competitive history.

Sources indicate that the PCB has formally raised the issue with the ICC, seeking clarification over why Salman Ali Agha was excluded from the marketing material. The tournament is scheduled to begin on February 7, with the final set for March 8, and includes one of the most anticipated fixtures in world cricket when India and Pakistan face off on February 15 in Colombo.

This is not the first time Pakistan has encountered such a situation. PCB officials pointed out that a similar oversight occurred during the Asia Cup earlier this year, when promotional campaigns were rolled out without featuring Pakistan’s captain. That issue was only resolved after intervention with tournament authorities.

Despite the frustration, the PCB remains confident that the ICC will correct the oversight and include Salman Ali Agha in upcoming promotional campaigns. Officials stressed that Pakistan’s cricketing legacy and massive fan following make the team an essential part of any World Cup narrative, regardless of rankings. The PCB also reiterated that Pakistan continues to be a major attraction in global tournaments, with strong viewership and fan engagement worldwide.
