The action adventure film The Bluff starring Priyanka Chopra has become the most watched original movie across streaming platforms despite receiving mixed critical reviews. The pirate themed film premiered on Prime Video on February 25 and has quickly gained massive global viewership.
According to industry data published by Variety, the film ranked number one on the Streaming Originals Film chart for the period between February 27 and March 5. During that time the movie generated approximately 300.3 million minutes of viewing making it the most watched streaming original film worldwide.
The second position on the chart was secured by Accused, which debuted on Netflix. Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, the thriller stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta. The film accumulated about 213.1 million minutes of viewership.
In third place was Firebreak, directed by David Victori, which also streamed on Netflix and recorded approximately 177.2 million minutes watched.
Another popular release in the rankings was Paul McCartney Man on the Run, directed by Morgan Neville and released on Prime Video. The documentary attracted around 156.2 million minutes of viewing time. Rounding out the top five was The Wrecking Crew directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, which earned roughly 110.6 million minutes of audience watch time.
Set in the Caribbean region including the Cayman Islands, The Bluff follows the story of Ercell Borden portrayed by Priyanka Chopra. She lives in a peaceful coastal town with her family until her husband is captured by a dangerous pirate named Connor played by Karl Urban.
To rescue her loved ones and confront enemies from her past Ercell must reveal her hidden identity as Bloody Mary a legendary and feared pirate. The action packed film features sword fights gun battles and dramatic confrontations as she protects her family.
The movie is directed by Frank E Flowers and produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo and Angela Russo Otstot under the banner AGBO. The ensemble cast also includes Temuera Morrison, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Safia Oakley Green, Zack Morris and David Field.
Even though the film received mixed reactions from critics fans of Priyanka Chopra have widely celebrated its streaming success with many praising her powerful performance and action sequences.
