Qualcomm has announced its latest Snapdragon X2 Elite Series processors, designed to deliver high-end performance for Windows-based laptops and 2-in-1 devices. The new lineup includes Snapdragon X2 Elite and X2 Elite Extreme chipsets, capable of powering AI-driven computing, professional media editing, data analytics, and scientific research applications. With a peak of 80 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI performance via the Hexagon NPU, these processors are aimed at ultra-premium PCs.
The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme chipset features third-generation Qualcomm Oryon cores, offering up to 75 percent faster CPU performance compared to competing processors at the same power levels. It comes with a new Adreno GPU architecture, delivering 2.3 times better performance per watt and improved energy efficiency over the previous generation.
The flagship X2 Elite variant includes an 18-core CPU configuration, with 12 prime cores and six performance cores, clocked at a maximum 5.0GHz, paired with a 53MB cache and support for LPDDR5X RAM. Memory bandwidth reaches up to 228GB per second, allowing faster multitasking and heavy workloads. Compared to the preceding Snapdragon X Elite, the new platform offers 31 percent higher performance at ISO power while consuming 43 percent less energy.
In terms of display support, the Snapdragon X2 Elite platform can drive up to three 5K monitors at 60Hz and supports DirectX 12.2.2 Ultimate. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and 5G cellular support, enabling seamless high-speed wireless experiences. The platform is designed to scale across laptops, 2-in-1 PCs, and other form factors, offering flexibility for device manufacturers and users seeking premium performance and AI capabilities.
Qualcomm confirmed that PCs equipped with Snapdragon X2 Elite processors are expected to hit the market in the first half of 2026, marking a new milestone in high-performance Windows computing powered by AI.
