Rafael Nadal Encourages Amanda Anisimova After Heavy Wimbledon Final Loss to Iga Swiatek

Date:

Amanda Anisimova faced a tough reality check in her first-ever Grand Slam final at Wimbledon 2025 as she was outclassed by the dominant Iga Swiatek. The American star lost in straight sets 6-0 6-0 in just 57 minutes as Swiatek clinched her sixth Grand Slam title with a ruthless display on Centre Court. The match now joins the history books as only the second Grand Slam final ever to end with a double bagel scoreline after Steffi Graf’s famous 1988 French Open win against Natasha Zvereva.

Despite the crushing defeat Anisimova who had stunned Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals and is set to break into the WTA top-10 for the first time was comforted by messages of support from around the tennis world. One of the most heartfelt came from Rafael Nadal who shared an encouraging note on social media telling her to stay proud of her milestone achievement.

After the final the 23-year-old spoke to the press with remarkable resilience admitting that although she felt physically drained the experience will only fuel her drive to improve. She explained how she quickly switched her mindset in the locker room deciding to take the result as a lesson for her career ahead. Anisimova said she sees this moment as a ‘fork in the road’ choosing to work harder to keep putting herself in big match situations like this.

She also reflected on the physical demands of Grand Slam tournaments acknowledging that building greater endurance will be crucial for lasting the full two weeks. For Anisimova this painful loss could be the catalyst for an even stronger comeback in future major finals.
