Despite the anticipated Nadal-Djokovic match not being the final showdown, the Spaniard found his form on the iconic Roland Garros court, defeating Marton Fucsovics of Hungary with a score of 6-1 4-6 6-4.

As Nadal clinched victory with a forehand on his third match point, the crowd erupted in applause, honoring the tennis legend who has captivated them for twenty years.

While Nadal has delivered more dominant performances in the past, few have been as warmly received as this one.

In the women’s draw, Chinese sixth seed Qinwen Zheng easily defeated former French Open runner-up Sara Errani, winning 6-0 6-0. Greece’s Maria Sakkari also advanced, defeating Danka Kovinic 6-0 6-1.

The evening session will feature U.S. flagbearer Coco Gauff facing Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, and reigning Olympic champion Alexander Zverev of Germany competing against Spain’s Jaume Munar.

Nadal’s triumph kept alive the dream of a golden conclusion to his illustrious career.
