Samantha Ruth Prabhu has undergone a significant transformation into an action star, initially seen in her Telugu film Yashoda and now fully realized in the Amazon Prime Video series Citadel: Honey Bunny. In the Raj & DK series, she plays a spy and performs numerous fight scenes. In a recent interview, Samantha discussed how she managed to film the series despite battling myositis and even begged the creators to replace her.
During an interview with Galatta India, Samantha shared that although she was initially enthusiastic about joining Honey Bunny, she later felt she couldn’t continue. “I didn’t anticipate that a few months later, I would ask Raj & DK to find another heroine because it was impossible. I believed I couldn’t do it due to the circumstances I was facing,” she explained. Myositis, an autoimmune disorder, severely impacted Samantha’s health, necessitating hospitalization.
The actor revealed that she suggested other actors to the series directors, but they remained firm. “I actually sent them photos of Kiara and Kriti. I remember sending four pictures, saying ‘Oh my God, she is so hot. Just look at her. She would be incredible in action. Please, I can’t do it,” Samantha recounted. “They replied, ‘We know who they are. You don’t need to introduce them to us. We are aware of their work.'”
Ultimately, Samantha completed Citadel: Honey Bunny, which also features Varun Dhawan, Kay Kay Menon, and Saqib Saleem. The thriller serves as a prequel to the Russo Brothers’ Citadel, starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden. It began streaming on Amazon Prime Video last month and quickly became the top show on the platform globally during its first week. Samantha’s performance garnered praise from both critics and fans.
