Indian music composer Shashwat Sachdev, best known for his work in Uri: The Surgical Strike, Dhurandhar, and the hit web series The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, is now collaborating with legendary Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer. The two are joining forces to create the title theme for the British television series Virdee — a six-part crime thriller that follows a detective hunting a killer in Bradford’s Asian community.
In a heartfelt statement, Shashwat expressed his excitement about this global musical milestone, saying, “Composing across continents shows that music needs no translation — only truth. From Mumbai to Los Angeles, it’s the same heartbeat. Working with Hans Zimmer and James brought together humility, pride, and emotion in a way I’ll always remember.”
He added, “I often feel like a musical nomad exploring cultures and sounds. Collaborating with Hans was one of the most beautiful creative journeys I’ve experienced.”
Virdee features Staz Nair in the lead role and is adapted by A A Dhand from his own popular Bradford-based crime novel series. The show boasts a diverse cast of British Asian actors and is expected to air in 2026.
Meanwhile, Hans Zimmer is also working with A R Rahman on the soundtrack for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, a two-part Bollywood epic set for Diwali releases in 2026 and 2027. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Zimmer’s collaboration with both Indian composers reflects a growing global connection between Bollywood and Hollywood.
