Tour Violinist Files Lawsuit Against Will Smith Alleging Harassment and Unfair Dismissal

Date:

Hollywood star and musician Will Smith is facing a civil lawsuit from a violinist who performed on his 2025 concert tour, with allegations ranging from sexual harassment to retaliation and wrongful termination. The legal action has drawn significant attention due to the serious nature of the claims and Smith’s global profile.

Brian King Joseph, a professional violinist, has filed the lawsuit against Will Smith and his management company, Treyball Studios Management, in a Los Angeles court. According to the complaint, Joseph claims that he was dismissed from the Based on a True Story 2025 tour after reporting what he describes as disturbing and inappropriate conduct during a stop in Las Vegas in March 2025.

In the filing, Joseph alleges that while staying in a hotel room booked by the tour management, he returned to find evidence suggesting unauthorized entry. The items reportedly included a written note addressed to him, personal belongings such as wipes and a beer bottle, prescription medication for HIV under a different individual’s name, and hospital discharge documents belonging to someone else. Joseph claims the situation made him fear for his safety and caused emotional distress.

The lawsuit further states that Joseph immediately informed hotel security, contacted a non-emergency police line, and notified tour management about the incident. However, instead of receiving support, he alleges that he was accused of fabricating the incident and was later blamed for it. Within days, Joseph says he was informed that his services were no longer required, with management stating that the tour was “moving in a different direction.” He also claims that another violinist was quickly hired to replace him.

Joseph’s complaint accuses Will Smith of engaging in what he describes as “predatory behavior,” alleging that the actor and musician had been grooming him since their first professional interaction in late 2024. The lawsuit claims that Smith hired Joseph for an initial performance in San Diego and later invited him to join the 2025 tour and contribute musically to his album. Over time, Joseph alleges that the relationship became increasingly personal, with private interactions and comments that made him uncomfortable.

The violinist has stated that the alleged experience led to post-traumatic stress disorder and financial losses following his termination. He is seeking damages for sexual harassment, retaliation, and wrongful dismissal, with the amount to be decided by a jury. As of now, representatives for Will Smith have not issued a public response to the lawsuit.
