Wicked For Good Final Trailer Unveils Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s Intense Rivalry in Darker Oz

Date:

The final trailer for Wicked For Good has officially been released, offering fans a dramatic glimpse into the highly anticipated sequel set in the magical world of Oz. Starring Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the film teases high drama, romance, chaos, and iconic musical numbers ahead of its worldwide release on November 21, 2025.

The new footage paints a much darker picture of Oz compared to what audiences have seen before. In one heated sequence, Glinda slams her wand against Elphaba’s broom on the famous yellow brick road, emphasizing their escalating conflict. A sharp exchange follows as Glinda declares, “I’m a public figure now, people expect me to…” only for Elphaba to sarcastically cut in, “Fly?” Glinda fires back, finishing with frustration: “Be encouraging!”

Music, romance, and chaos collide

The trailer reveals several of the Broadway-inspired songs, including Glinda’s “Thank Goodness” and Elphaba’s powerful “No Good Deed.” Audiences also catch a glimpse of a wedding between Glinda and Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), which spirals into chaos as a stampede disrupts the ceremony. Michelle Yeoh’s Madame Morrible ominously declares, “This is the work of the Wicked Witch!”

Amidst the turmoil, romance surfaces with Elphaba and Fiyero sharing their passionate duet, “As Long as You’re Mine,” floating mid-air in a magical embrace. There are also lighter moments, such as Glinda joyfully receiving her signature flying bubble and exclaiming, “I’m obsess-u-lated!”

New characters and familiar faces

The footage also introduces close-ups of the Cowardly Lion, a redesigned Tin Man, and a mysterious shot of the Scarecrow before Elphaba joins Dorothy’s fateful journey. Fans are treated to a magical sequence of Marissa Bode as Nessa Rose, rising into the air as her slippers shimmer and turn ruby red.

Plot and themes of Wicked For Good

According to the official synopsis, the story continues after Elphaba is branded the Wicked Witch of the West by the Wizard and Madame Morrible. On the run, she fights for the freedom of Oz’s silenced Animals. Meanwhile, Glinda embraces her role as the glamorous symbol of Goodness in the Emerald City. The film explores whether the two women can overcome their differences and truly see one another with empathy and honesty—changing themselves and all of Oz, for good.

Behind the scenes and release

Directed by Jon M. Chu and adapted by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, the film follows the massive success of Wicked: Part 1 (2024), which became the highest-grossing stage-to-screen musical adaptation in history and secured two Academy Awards.

Cynthia Erivo hinted earlier this year that the sequel will have “a little bit of spice,” reflecting the characters’ evolution as they leave school and embrace the consequences of their choices. Alongside Grande and Erivo, the cast includes Jonathan Bailey, Bowen Yang, Ethan Slater, and Michelle Yeoh.

Wicked For Good is set to premiere on November 21, 2025, with Part 1 still streaming on Peacock for fans who want to relive the magic before the sequel’s arrival.
