Hollywood superstar and Oscar winner Will Smith recently spoke about his long-standing interest in working in Bollywood during his visit to Dubai for the premiere of National Geographic’s documentary series Pole to Pole with Will Smith. While interacting with media on the red carpet, the actor revealed that although discussions with some of India’s biggest film icons took place in the past, none of those projects materialised. However, his enthusiasm for Indian cinema remains strong, and he has openly expressed a desire to be cast by Shah Rukh Khan in a Bollywood film.
Will Smith revealed that over the years he had informal conversations with Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan about potential collaborations. He shared that ideas were discussed and there was genuine excitement around working together, but for various reasons the projects never moved forward. Speaking light-heartedly about his interaction with Amitabh Bachchan, Will mentioned that they even joked about sharing a title, highlighting the friendly rapport between the two stars despite no film coming to fruition.
The actor went on to say that he would love for Shah Rukh Khan to offer him a role in a Hindi film. With humour and admiration, Will expressed that he is ready and waiting for the opportunity, signalling his openness to exploring Bollywood storytelling and collaborating with Indian filmmakers. His comments have sparked excitement among fans who would love to see a Hollywood icon appear in a mainstream Indian movie.
Shah Rukh Khan, meanwhile, is currently busy with his upcoming film King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film features a strong ensemble cast and promises a fresh cinematic experience with action and psychological depth. On the international front, Will Smith is preparing for the release of Pole to Pole, a documentary series that follows him on an intense 100-day journey across extreme environments, guided by scientists and explorers. The series is set to premiere on National Geographic on January 13, showcasing a different side of the actor as he takes on physical and mental challenges across the globe.
