OnePlus has officially confirmed new camera upgrades for its upcoming smartphone, the OnePlus 15R, ahead of its India launch scheduled for December 17. The latest R-series device will feature a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, marking a major leap in selfie performance for the lineup.
According to the company, the new selfie sensor includes autofocus technology, allowing the camera to automatically adjust focus and reduce blurry photos. This enhancement is expected to improve clarity in both selfies and video calls, especially in dynamic lighting conditions.
In another first for the R-series, the OnePlus 15R will support 4K video recording at 30 frames per second using the front camera. This is a notable upgrade over the previous generation, which was limited to 1080p video recording.
Beyond the camera, the OnePlus 15R is confirmed to feature a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, offering smooth visuals and vibrant colours. The screen will deliver up to 1800 nits of peak brightness and a wide brightness range for comfortable viewing indoors and outdoors.
Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, making it the first R-series phone to debut with this processor. OnePlus has also added a new G2 Wi-Fi chip and a dedicated Touch Response Chip to improve connectivity and responsiveness.
The device will pack a massive 7400mAh battery, the largest ever on a OnePlus smartphone in India, with the company claiming long-term durability and sustained battery health over four years. With these upgrades, the OnePlus 15R is shaping up to be a strong contender in the premium mid-range smartphone segment.
