Hollywood star Nicole Kidman has publicly addressed her separation from country music singer Keith Urban for the first time since their divorce was finalized earlier this year. In a recent conversation with Variety, the award-winning actress opened up about navigating a challenging personal period while continuing to focus on her family and career.
Kidman shared that the past year had been emotionally complex and that she spent much of that time keeping a low profile. Despite the difficult circumstances she said she remains committed to moving forward with optimism and gratitude for the people closest to her.
The couple’s divorce was finalized on January 6 in Nashville, just a few months after they publicly confirmed their separation. Kidman and Urban had been together for nearly two decades and share two daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
Speaking about life after the split Kidman emphasized that her main priority is maintaining a strong and supportive family environment for her children. She explained that she prefers not to discuss the details of the separation publicly out of respect but remains focused on preserving family bonds and continuing to move forward in a positive direction.
During the interview the actress also discussed several upcoming projects including the sequel to Practical Magic and the new crime drama series Scarpetta which is expected to release on Prime Video.
Kidman and Urban first met in 2005 and married the following year. Their relationship lasted for 19 years before the actress filed for divorce in September 2025 citing irreconcilable differences. Reports indicate that both agreed to handle their own legal expenses and waive child and spousal support while maintaining a cooperative parenting arrangement.
The actress continues to spend time with her daughters while balancing her professional commitments. Before her marriage to Urban Kidman was previously married to Tom Cruise from 1990 until their separation in 2001.
