Rams Recreate ‘Friday’ with Ice Cube and Chris Tucker’s Sons in New Draft Campaign Film ‘Thursday’

Date:

The Los Angeles Rams have unveiled a creative new promotional film titled Thursday, inspired by the культ classic movie Friday. The project stars O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Destin Tucker, sons of Ice Cube and Chris Tucker, bringing a fresh spin to the beloved comedy ahead of the upcoming NFL Draft.

The short film, released across the team’s digital and social platforms, reimagines the original storyline while incorporating football culture and the excitement surrounding draft season. It also features appearances from stars like Terry Crews, rapper YG, and Rams players including Kevin Dotson, Jared Verse, and Byron Young, along with radio personality Big Boy.

Originally released in 1995, Friday was directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Ice Cube and DJ Pooh. The film became a cultural phenomenon, telling the story of two friends navigating a chaotic day while trying to settle a debt. The Rams’ version pays tribute to that legacy while adapting it for a modern sports audience.

Filming took place at the original house featured in Friday, located in the West Athens area near SoFi Stadium. The campaign aims to celebrate Los Angeles culture and connect with fans through nostalgia and entertainment.

The release of Thursday is part of a wider fan engagement initiative tied to the NFL Draft. Activities include a themed fan zone experience and interactive events designed to build excitement leading up to draft day.

O’Shea Jackson Jr., known for portraying his father in Straight Outta Compton, continues to expand his acting career with roles in projects like Cocaine Bear and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Meanwhile, Destin Tucker is steadily building his presence in the entertainment industry as an actor, writer, and musician.

By blending sports marketing with iconic film nostalgia, the Los Angeles Rams have delivered a campaign that highlights both Hollywood heritage and the excitement of football’s biggest offseason event.
