KL Rahul Highlights Challenging Pitch as Delhi Capitals Outplay RCB in Bengaluru Thriller

Date:

KL Rahul reflected on the tough batting conditions at M Chinnaswamy Stadium after guiding Delhi Capitals to a hard-fought victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The experienced batter noted that the surface offered early assistance to bowlers, making stroke play difficult during the initial overs of the match.

Chasing a competitive total of 175, Delhi Capitals found themselves under pressure after losing three wickets inside the powerplay. However, KL Rahul steadied the innings with a composed half-century on his birthday, anchoring the chase and helping his side recover from a shaky start.

Rahul observed that even RCB’s top-order batters, including Virat Kohli and Phil Salt, struggled to find rhythm early in their innings as the ball wasn’t coming onto the bat smoothly. Delhi faced similar challenges, with early breakthroughs from Bhuvneshwar Kumar putting them on the back foot.

Despite the setbacks, Rahul emphasized that the team remained committed to playing attacking cricket. Instead of slowing down, the focus was on maintaining scoring momentum and keeping pressure on the opposition bowlers. This approach helped prevent the required run rate from escalating too much in the later stages.

He also pointed out the importance of staying present and taking the chase one over at a time, especially on a surface that began assisting reverse swing as the game progressed. Rahul and his batting partners ensured the game remained within reach heading into the final overs.

Speaking about the tense finish, Rahul expressed confidence in teammates Tristan Stubbs and David Miller, who are known for their finishing abilities in international and franchise cricket. The team trusted them to handle the closing moments, especially with favorable matchups against the bowlers expected to deliver the final overs.

While Delhi Capitals would have preferred a smoother finish, the team ultimately secured the win, showcasing resilience and smart game management under pressure.
