If you think playing Superman is challenging, try being a real-life ‘super dad’ at the same time! David Corenswet, the star of James Gunn’s latest Superman film, has proven he can juggle saving the world on screen and being a hands-on father off it.
During a recent conversation with Entertainment Tonight as the highly anticipated film hit cinemas worldwide, David, 32, shared how he navigates the double life of superhero and parent. The actor, who shares a one-year-old daughter with wife Julia Warner, gracefully answered the age-old work-life balance question — one that’s typically asked of new mothers.
Adding a heartfelt moment to the chat, Nicholas Hoult, who plays iconic villain Lex Luthor, chimed in with a sweet behind-the-scenes story. He recalled, “One of my favourite memories on set was seeing David behind the huge backdrops. You couldn’t see his top half, just Superman’s boots and cape pushing a stroller between takes. That’s a true super dad moment — balancing blockbuster action scenes with parenting.”
Keeping things humble, David quickly credited his wife for holding the family together during his long filming days. “She deserves all the credit. I was on set 12 hours a day, so she was the real hero. When I got home, I just wanted to be as helpful and present as I could. It’s good Superman energy — flying around all day fighting villains, then coming home to change diapers and get thrown up on. It keeps you grounded.”
The new Superman film, featuring Rachel Brosnahan, Isabela Merced, and Milly Alcock, is currently showing in theatres and has already won hearts not just for its big-screen heroics but also for its off-screen realness.
