Easy Avallaki Payasa Recipe – Quick and Delicious Kheer

Avallaki Payasa is a simple and delicious Indian kheer made from thick poha, milk, sugar, and dry fruits. This creamy dessert is perfect for festivals, family gatherings, or as a sweet treat after meals. Ready in just 15 minutes, it is an easy recipe that even beginners can prepare.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1/2 cup gatti avalakki or thick poha
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 7-8 cashews
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • A pinch of cardamom powder

Method to Make Avallaki Payasa

  1. Rinse the thick beaten rice (gatti avalakki) and set it aside.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan and add cashews and raisins. Roast until the raisins swell, then remove them and keep aside.
  3. Pour in milk and add sugar, stirring well. Bring it to a gentle boil.
  4. Add the rinsed avalakki and cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  5. After 5 minutes, add cardamom powder and continue cooking until the rice softens, about 10 minutes.
  6. Switch off the stove and fold in the roasted cashews and raisins.
  7. Serve warm or chilled and enjoy this creamy, aromatic Avallaki Payasa.

This easy kheer recipe is rich in flavor, slightly sweet, and full of festive aroma from cardamom and dry fruits.
