Ingredients for Aloo Beetroot Halwa

  • 1 medium potato (parboiled and peeled)
  • 3 medium beetroots (parboiled and peeled)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 125 grams khoya (mawa)
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 3 tbsp pure ghee
  • ¼ tsp green cardamom powder
  • Almonds, blanched peeled and slivered (for garnish)

Method to Make Aloo Beetroot Halwa

  1. Grate potato and beetroot in one direction only for a smooth texture.
  2. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan and sauté the grated potato and beetroot for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add sugar and continue to cook for another 2–3 minutes.
  4. Mix in grated khoya (mawa) and sauté for 2 minutes until blended.
  5. Pour in milk and cook for a couple of minutes until the mixture thickens.
  6. Add half the almonds and half of the green cardamom powder and mix well.
  7. Garnish with remaining almonds and cardamom powder.
  8. Serve hot. Optionally, decorate with silver warq for a festive touch.
