Kolkata Knight Riders continue to monitor Cameron Green’s fitness closely as uncertainty remains over his availability as a bowler in the ongoing IPL season. During the toss against Lucknow Super Giants, skipper Ajinkya Rahane hinted that the Australian all-rounder is still awaiting clearance before he can resume bowling in competitive matches.
Green has been gradually working on his bowling during practice sessions after recovering from back surgery. He was seen going through his run-up and bowling drills in the warm-up, but has yet to bowl in a match this season. His absence with the ball has impacted KKR’s team balance, especially with key bowling options missing due to injuries and withdrawals.
Rahane emphasized that Green’s return as a bowler would significantly strengthen the team combination. He indicated that once Green is fully cleared to bowl, it would provide the side with an additional bowling option and allow more flexibility in team selection.
KKR have already been dealing with multiple setbacks in their bowling department, including the unavailability of Mustafizur Rahman and injuries to Harshit Rana and Akash Deep. This has increased the importance of Green’s all-round abilities for the squad.
In team changes, Sunil Narine returned to the playing eleven, replacing Blessing Muzarabani. However, Varun Chakravarthy missed out as he continues to recover from a finger injury.
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant chose to bowl first after winning the toss. He expressed confidence in his bowling attack and highlighted that the team’s recent victory has boosted morale. Pant also backed his batting lineup, stating that the top order has the capability to anchor the innings and deliver consistent performances.
As the tournament progresses, KKR will be hoping for a full return of Cameron Green’s bowling fitness to regain balance and strengthen their overall performance.
