Catherine Zeta-Jones has officially joined Anthony Hopkins in the upcoming drama film A Visit to Grandpa’s, directed by D. J. Caruso. The production recently began filming in Wales, bringing together a strong cast and creative team for a story rooted in classic Welsh literature.
The film draws inspiration from a beloved short story by Dylan Thomas and explores a heartwarming narrative centered on family and imagination. The storyline follows a young boy who is sent to spend the summer with his unconventional grandfather, played by Anthony Hopkins, on a remote farm in Wales.
Initially expecting a strict and uneventful stay, the boy instead finds himself immersed in a lively world filled with eccentric tales, humor, and unexpected adventures. As the days unfold, the relationship between the two evolves into a meaningful journey of discovery, bonding, and joy.
Catherine Zeta-Jones takes on a prominent role in the film, with early images showing her in character during a bar scene. The cast also includes Aneurin Barnard, Artie Wilkinson-Hunt, Geraldine James, and Aimee-Ffion Edwards, adding depth to the ensemble.
The project is being produced by Huw Penallt Jones alongside Hannah Leader and Amory Leader, with international sales handled by WestEnd Films. The production is a European collaboration involving Adler Entertainment and U-Media.
Behind the scenes, the film features a talented crew including cinematographer Gavin Struthers, production designer Tom Pearce, costume designer Tina Kalivas, and hair and makeup designer Deb Kenton.
