First Look at the Weasley Family and Platform 9¾ in Upcoming Harry Potter TV Series

Date:

The magic of the Wizarding World is returning as fans finally get their first glimpse of the Weasley family from the upcoming Harry Potter television series. Filming is currently underway in London, and over the weekend, production moved to King’s Cross Station, where the cast recreated the legendary Platform 9¾ scene, a moment that has defined the Harry Potter story for generations.

Ron Weasley Steps Into the Spotlight

The biggest reveal from the shoot was the introduction of Ron Weasley, played by 11-year-old Alastair Stout, stepping into the role first made famous by Rupert Grint in the film series. Stout was spotted in 1990s-inspired attire, including a plaid overshirt, corduroy bell-bottoms, and a duffel coat — setting the story’s timeline in 1991, the year Harry Potter first arrives at Hogwarts.

Meet the Weasley Family

Ron was joined by his on-screen siblings — twins Fred and George Weasley, played by Tristan and Gabriel Harland, and Ginny Weasley, portrayed by Gracie Cochrane. Percy Weasley (Ruari Spooner) is also confirmed for the series, though he wasn’t spotted during this filming sequence.

Another major debut was Katherine Parkinson (Rivals), stepping into the role of Molly Weasley, a character previously played by Julie Walters. Dressed in a retro suede jacket, long skirt, and bold earrings, Parkinson captured the essence of Molly as she wrangled her lively brood. Fans praised the colorful and mismatched costumes, which highlight the Weasleys’ quirky, patchwork charm.

Other Characters Revealed

This marks the first full look at a major family in the series since filming began. Previously, fans had glimpses of Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Nick Frost as Hagrid, and the Dursleys — with Daniel Rigby as Uncle Vernon, Bel Powley as Aunt Petunia, and Amos Kitson as Dudley. Kitson even took to Instagram to share his excitement about joining the magical saga.

Harry Potter Series Release Timeline

Filming for Season 1, covering Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is scheduled to run until May next year, before production shifts to Season 2: The Chamber of Secrets. The series is set to debut on HBO in 2027, promising a fresh yet faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s iconic story.
