Jurassic World Rebirth Smashes Global Box Office With Record $312.5 Million Opening Weekend

Date:

Universal’s revived dinosaur adventure Jurassic World Rebirth has taken a giant bite out of the global box office with an astonishing $312.5 million in its debut weekend, roaring well past its initial estimates of $260 million. This powerful return for the Jurassic franchise shows that the appetite for prehistoric thrills is alive and well among moviegoers worldwide.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the reboot brings fresh energy and big-screen spectacle back to the beloved dinosaur saga. Starring Jonathan Bailey Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali, the film is now the second-highest worldwide opener of 2025 behind only A Minecraft Movie according to Deadline.

International ticket sales have played a massive part in the blockbuster’s success, raking in $171.3 million, making it the second-largest global opening in the franchise’s history after 2015’s Jurassic World. In China, Rebirth stormed ahead with a massive $33.7 million haul commanding half of the country’s market share and delivering the largest MPA opening day so far this year.

Other territories have added impressive figures too. The United Kingdom and Ireland pulled in $7.5 million combined with an impressive 50 per cent market share. France saw Rebirth grab $1.8 million making it the second-biggest release of the year there while Mexico added $6.5 million by Saturday. South Korea contributed $5.1 million with $2.4 million coming just on Saturday alone.

Meanwhile, India welcomed Rebirth with a strong $1.3 million opening weekend marking it the second-best MPA launch of 2025 after Mission: Impossible Final Reckoning. Markets like Australia Spain Italy and Germany have also reported strong performance with the film claiming the number one spot in almost every region. Smaller territories like Thailand Poland and the UAE have shown remarkable box office share as well with Thailand boasting a 76 per cent market share for the weekend.

Remarkably in Taiwan the film has already surpassed the total lifetime earnings of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny underscoring its appeal. Gareth Edwards’ direction combined with state-of-the-art visuals and strong franchise buzz have helped Rebirth exceed expectations in a busy release calendar. Positive word-of-mouth and limited competition ahead suggest that the film’s dino-sized box office dominance will continue through the coming weeks.
