According to Chennai-based fitness coach Raj Ganpath, a well-balanced meal should nourish the body, support long-term health, and still feel satisfying in the moment. With 18 years of experience in fitness and nutrition, Raj believes consistency comes from meals that are practical, enjoyable, and sustainable rather than restrictive.

Raj Ganpath, founder of the Slow Burn Method, co-founder and head coach at Quad Fitness, and author of Simple Not Easy, recently shared how he structures every meal to stay energised and healthy. His approach focuses on six non-negotiable components that together create a balanced plate. Each element plays a role not only in long-term wellness but also in immediate satiety, digestion, and overall eating pleasure.

Protein forms the foundation of every meal for Raj. It supports muscle strength and recovery over time while also providing fullness and texture that makes meals satisfying. Vegetables are equally important, offering essential vitamins and minerals while supporting digestion and gut health on a daily basis. Raj also includes a source of starch in every meal, as it fuels physical activity and adds comfort and completeness to the plate.

To enhance the eating experience, he adds something crunchy purely for texture and enjoyment. A beverage such as water or a protein shake helps cleanse the palate and balance different flavours. Finally, Raj ends his meals with a small sweet treat, often dark chocolate, which helps curb cravings and makes the meal feel complete without excess.

This simple yet thoughtful structure allows Raj to enjoy food while maintaining health, proving that balanced eating can be both nourishing and pleasurable when approached with moderation and awareness.
