The Poco M8 5G is gearing up for its official launch in India and several key specifications have now been confirmed ahead of the debut. The upcoming smartphone from Poco will arrive with a premium 3D curved display design and will be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. It will ship with Android 15-based HyperOS 2 straight out of the box, along with a long-term software support commitment that includes multiple Android upgrades and extended security updates.
According to details revealed through official teasers and an online listing, the Poco M8 5G will feature a large 6.77-inch Full HD+ 3D curved AMOLED display offering a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is expected to deliver up to 3200 nits of peak brightness and cover 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, making it suitable for outdoor use and media consumption. The panel will also support Wet Touch 2.0 technology, allowing smooth operation even with wet fingers.
At the core of the Poco M8 5G is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, which is claimed to deliver a significant performance boost over its predecessor. The chipset reportedly scores over 8,25,000 points on the AnTuTu benchmark, highlighting a major leap in processing and gaming performance. The phone will support up to 16GB of RAM, including 8GB of virtual RAM expansion, ensuring smooth multitasking and app handling.
On the software front, Poco has confirmed a strong update policy for the M8 5G. The device will launch with Android 15-based HyperOS 2 and is promised to receive four major Android updates along with six years of security patches. Additionally, the phone is expected to be among the early models to receive Android 16-based HyperOS 3.
In terms of design and durability, the Poco M8 5G will feature a slim 7.35mm profile and weigh approximately 178 grams. It is confirmed to carry an IP66 rating for dust and water resistance and comes with SGS MIL-STD-810 certification for enhanced durability. Camera duties will be handled by a 50-megapixel AI-powered primary sensor housed inside a centrally aligned squircle-shaped camera module, accompanied by an additional sensor and LED flash.
The Poco M8 5G is scheduled to launch in India on January 8 at 12pm IST and will be available for purchase via Flipkart. More details regarding pricing and availability are expected to be announced during the launch event.
