Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 The Rule has achieved a major milestone at the Japan box office by securing a place among the top 10 highest-grossing Indian films ever released in the country. The film premiered in Japan on January 16 under the title Pushpa Kunrin following its successful India release in 2024. Backed by strong promotions from the lead cast and growing audience interest the film gained momentum after an initially slow start.
According to trade reports Pushpa 2 collected approximately ¥105 million which translates to around ₹6.06 crore within 14 days of its Japan release. This performance allowed it to surpass Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 and claim the tenth position on the all-time list. Positive word of mouth particularly in cities such as Tokyo and Osaka played a key role in driving footfall. While the film has joined an elite list it still trails far behind the top-ranked Indian titles in Japan.
The highest-grossing Indian film in Japan remains SS Rajamouli’s RRR starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR which recorded an extraordinary ¥2.42 billion in earnings making it the only Indian movie to cross the ¥2 billion mark in the country. Other major performers include Rajinikanth’s Muthu Prabhas’ Baahubali 2 The Conclusion and Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots. Pushpa 2 now sits just below Rajinikanth’s Enthiran and could climb further if its theatrical run continues steadily.
Directed by Sukumar Pushpa 2 The Rule stars Allu Arjun Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in pivotal roles. The film has already delivered a massive global performance collecting ₹1871 crore worldwide during its initial release. Its Japan box office success further highlights the growing reach of Indian cinema in international markets especially in East Asia.
