Yash Raj Films has released an official clarification after social media allegations suggested that real missing persons data was used as part of the promotional strategy for Mardaani 3. The controversy emerged shortly after the film’s release when reports citing Delhi Police data about missing individuals began circulating widely online creating public concern.
Mardaani 3 marks the return of Rani Mukerji as police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy as she investigates the disappearance of dozens of young girls within a short time span. As the film gained momentum at the box office a report referencing missing persons statistics in Delhi went viral leading to speculation and panic among citizens. Delhi Police later stated that the sudden surge of such posts was the result of paid promotional activity and warned against spreading misinformation for financial gain.
Following this clarification Yash Raj Films firmly denied any involvement in sensationalising the issue. A spokesperson for the production house stated that the company has operated for over five decades with a strong commitment to ethical practices and transparency. The statement emphasized that the filmmakers did not use sensitive real world data as part of the film’s marketing and expressed confidence that authorities would reveal the full facts in due course.
Delhi Police also reiterated that rumours surrounding a sudden rise in missing children cases were misleading. Officials urged the public not to believe unverified claims and assured citizens that the safety of children remains a top priority with continuous efforts underway to trace missing persons and reunite them with their families.
Despite the controversy Mardaani 3 has been widely praised by audiences and critics for its gripping narrative and social relevance. The film has performed strongly at the box office crossing the ₹25 crore mark within its first week of release reinforcing its impact both commercially and culturally.
