Actor R. Madhavan has shared an interesting insight into the growing anticipation surrounding Dhurandhar 2 revealing that several fans from Dubai are planning trips to India just to watch the film in cinemas. The sequel directed by Aditya Dhar is scheduled to hit theatres on March 19 and is already generating significant buzz.
Speaking during a recent podcast appearance Madhavan explained that since the film is not releasing in parts of the Gulf some viewers are aligning their business travel plans with the release date so they can experience the movie on the big screen in India. According to him this reflects the strength of compelling storytelling and the desire among audiences to watch large-scale action dramas in packed theatres rather than opting for unofficial viewing platforms. He emphasised that the excitement proves how strong content can motivate people to go the extra mile for a theatrical experience.
The first instalment Dhurandhar performed strongly at the global box office despite facing bans in several Middle Eastern territories. The spy action thriller reportedly earned 32 million dollars overseas and grossed around ₹1300 crore worldwide becoming one of the year’s biggest commercial successes.
Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios the original film starred Ranveer Singh as Indian spy Hamza who infiltrates a criminal syndicate in Pakistan to dismantle a terror network. The cast also featured Akshaye Khanna Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. While critical reception ranged from mixed to positive the film gained momentum through strong word of mouth and audience support.
Dhurandhar 2 is expected to dive deeper into Hamza’s backstory while exploring political power struggles and the completion of his high-stakes mission. The sequel will see Madhavan Ranveer Singh Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt reprise their roles alongside new additions including Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
With mounting anticipation and reports of international fans travelling to India for its release Dhurandhar 2 appears poised to make a strong impact when it arrives in theatres on March 19.
