Sony Pictures has unveiled the gripping trailer of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, the much-anticipated sequel in the franchise. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Danny Boyle, the movie continues the haunting storyline following the events of 28 Years Later, immersing audiences into a terrifying post-apocalyptic England.
The film introduces Dr. Kelson, portrayed by Ralph Fiennes, who is caught in a disturbing relationship that threatens to alter the fate of humanity. Alongside him, Spike (Alfie Williams) faces the ruthless Sir Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell) and his gang of deadly acrobats, intensifying the struggle for survival.
Adding to the excitement, Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy makes a cameo appearance, reprising his role as Jim from 28 Days Later. The star-studded cast also includes Emma Laird, Maura Bird, Erin Kellyman, and Chi Lewis-Parry.
While the infected remain a looming danger, the film highlights how the cruelty of human survivors poses an even greater threat. Executive producer Danny Boyle hinted that Murphy’s character will have a monumental role in the franchise’s third installment, making his cameo in The Bone Temple even more significant.
Produced by Columbia Pictures, DNA Films, and Decibel Films, the movie promises high-intensity storytelling, chilling visuals, and shocking twists. Fans can mark their calendars, as 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on January 16, 2026.
