Travis Head Fires Back at Stuart Broad After Australia Clinch Ashes Series

Date:

Australia’s dominant Ashes campaign produced another viral moment after Travis Head took a cheeky swipe at former England pacer Stuart Broad following Australia’s series-sealing win in the third Test at Adelaide. With the hosts racing to an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match Ashes 2025–26 series, Broad’s pre-series claim that this was the “worst Australian side since 2010” quickly came back to haunt him.

England, led by Ben Stokes, have struggled throughout the tour, losing all three Tests convincingly inside 11 days. Australia, on the other hand, have looked ruthless, controlling every department and putting the visitors under constant pressure. Travis Head, who starred with centuries in both Perth and Adelaide, ensured Broad’s remarks were not forgotten.

Taking to Instagram after the Adelaide victory, Head shared a celebratory image with captain Pat Cummins, accompanied by the caption “Is it 2010 yet?”—a direct reference to Broad’s earlier comments. The post was widely shared, underlining Australia’s confidence and enjoyment after retaining the Ashes in emphatic fashion.

Despite the online banter, Stuart Broad has stood by his original assessment. Speaking on his For The Love of Cricket podcast, Broad said he did not regret his remarks, explaining that Australia had simply played to their strengths while England failed to reach their expected level. He acknowledged Australia’s consistency and relentlessness, while admitting England had not performed well enough.

Australia’s achievement appears even more impressive given the circumstances. Pat Cummins missed the first two Tests, Nathan Lyon was sidelined during the Adelaide match, and Steve Smith was unavailable for the third Test. Yet the hosts continued to dominate, highlighting their squad depth and experience.

England now turn their attention to the fourth Ashes Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on December 26, where they will aim to salvage pride and earn crucial World Test Championship points after a disappointing series so far.
