Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable smartphone may not arrive as early as previously expected, according to recent leaks that point to a possible delay in its launch schedule. Earlier speculation suggested that the device would debut around May 2026 alongside the Xiaomi 17 series, but fresh updates now indicate a later release window.
A well-known tipster has hinted that Xiaomi could push the launch to the second half of 2026, with early July emerging as a more realistic timeframe. While the company has yet to officially confirm these details, the update suggests a shift in Xiaomi’s rollout strategy for its next-generation foldable.
The device is expected to mark Xiaomi’s return to the book-style foldable category after skipping a release last year. The brand’s previous model in this segment, the Mix Fold 4, launched in 2024 and featured premium specifications including a large foldable display, high-end chipset and advanced camera system.
There is also growing speculation around how Xiaomi will brand its next foldable. Instead of continuing with the Mix Fold naming, the company may integrate the device into its main flagship number series, aligning it more closely with its premium smartphone lineup.
In terms of expected hardware, the new foldable could be powered by a flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, delivering top-tier performance. Camera upgrades are also anticipated, with reports suggesting a 200-megapixel main sensor supported by additional high-resolution lenses for ultrawide and auxiliary photography.
For selfies and video calls, the device may feature a front-facing camera with improved capabilities, although full specifications are yet to be confirmed. As the launch window approaches, more concrete details about the phone’s design features and pricing are likely to surface.
With foldable smartphones becoming increasingly competitive, Xiaomi’s next release is expected to play a key role in strengthening its position in the premium segment.
