Delicious Goan Chicken Croquette Recipe You Can Make at Home

Goan Chicken Croquette is a flavorful and crispy snack perfect for parties, gatherings, or as a delightful appetizer. Made with boneless chicken, aromatic spices, and a golden breadcrumb coating, this finger food can be enjoyed with dips, sandwiches, or chutneys. The recipe is simple yet delivers authentic Goan taste.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg boneless chicken, washed and salted
  • 2 large red onions, sliced
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 2 large tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 cup coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1/2 tbsp black peppercorns
  • 1 1/2 pieces cinnamon stick
  • 1 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 12 cloves
  • 3 cardamom pods
  • 2 dry red chillies (preferably Kashmiri)
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 soft bread slices, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 3 eggs

Method

  1. Grind cumin seeds, peppercorns, cinnamon, turmeric, cloves, cardamom, and dry red chillies into a fine spice powder.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat 1 tbsp oil and sauté onions, green chillies, ginger garlic paste, tomatoes, and chicken until half-cooked.
  3. Add 1 cup water, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes. Let it cool.
  4. Blend the mixture into a coarse paste.
  5. Transfer to a large bowl, add bread cubes, chopped coriander, and the ground spice mix.
  6. Beat 2 whole eggs and 1 egg yolk, reserving one egg white separately. Mix into the chicken mixture thoroughly.
  7. Shape the mixture into small cylinders.
  8. Whisk the reserved egg white to a froth.
  9. Dip each cylinder into the egg white and coat with breadcrumbs. Deep fry until golden brown.
  10. Serve hot with garlic mayo, cheesy dip, sauce, or chutney.
