Struggling with Makeup in Summer Heat Dermatologist Shares Sweat Proof Beauty Tips That Actually Work

Rising temperatures and intense humidity during summer can quickly ruin even the most carefully applied makeup. From foundation sliding off to smudged eyeliner and uneven patches, sweat becomes a major challenge for maintaining a fresh look throughout the day. Experts say that the key to long-lasting makeup in hot weather lies in the right skincare preparation and smart product choices.

According to cosmetic dermatologist Dr Renuka Nalawade Rajale, building a strong base is essential before applying makeup. She explains that starting with a lightweight gel-based moisturiser can help control excess oil and sweat while keeping the skin hydrated. Products designed to reduce sebum production can also create a smoother surface and improve makeup longevity.

Sunscreen is another crucial step that should never be skipped. Water-based sunscreens not only protect against harmful UV rays but also act as a primer-like layer, helping makeup stay in place for longer. Choosing lightweight formulas ensures the skin doesn’t feel greasy or heavy.

Before applying makeup, cooling techniques such as using ice or an ice roller can temporarily tighten pores and reduce sweat production. This simple step can make a noticeable difference in how well makeup adheres to the skin.

When it comes to makeup products, opting for mattifying foundations is highly recommended. Setting the makeup with translucent powder helps control shine and prevents it from melting away. Additionally, using a setting spray can lock everything in place and increase wear time even in humid conditions.

For touch-ups throughout the day, blotting papers are an effective solution. They absorb excess oil and sweat without disturbing the makeup, helping maintain a clean and fresh appearance.

The expert also highlights that excessive sweating could sometimes indicate conditions like Hyperhidrosis. In such cases, triggers may include heat spicy foods stress or anxiety. Medical consultation is advised if sweating becomes difficult to manage, and treatments such as Oxybutynin may be prescribed under professional supervision.

While these tips can help improve makeup performance in summer, individuals are advised to seek professional medical guidance for any persistent skin or health concerns.
