UAE Airspace Fully Reopens as Flight Operations Return to Normal After Temporary Closure

Date:

Air travel across the United Arab Emirates has officially stabilised, with authorities confirming that flight operations have returned to normal following a brief precautionary shutdown of airspace.

The update was shared by the General Civil Aviation Authority, which stated that the temporary closure took place between approximately 3am and 5am on Tuesday March 17 as part of safety measures. After conducting a detailed review of operational and security conditions in coordination with relevant authorities, the airspace was safely reopened.

Officials confirmed that real time monitoring systems remain active to ensure the continued safety and efficiency of air navigation across the country.

According to updates from Dubai Airports, flights at Dubai International Airport were not cancelled during the closure period. Instead several services experienced delays and resumed later in the day once operations normalised.

The restoration of full air traffic activity follows earlier disruptions that occurred on Monday March 16 when flights were temporarily suspended at DXB as a precautionary measure. Operations gradually resumed later that day, leading to a full recovery by Tuesday morning.

Passengers are advised to check directly with their airlines for the most up to date flight information before travelling to the airport.

Emirates and flydubai Flight Updates

Emirates continues to operate a reduced schedule while monitoring the situation and adjusting services as needed. The airline has confirmed that affected passengers will receive notifications regarding cancellations or schedule changes along with rebooking options.

Travellers who booked flights between late February and March 31 can rebook their journeys or request refunds depending on their situation. The airline also allows passengers to manage bookings online including reviewing changes selecting alternative flights and updating travel details.

Passengers with connecting flights through Dubai are advised not to travel unless all segments of their journey are confirmed operational.

Meanwhile flydubai has also resumed operations on a limited scale. The airline is gradually restoring its flight network while prioritising passenger safety.

Customers affected by recent disruptions have been contacted directly and are being offered flexible options including rebooking within a 30 day period or requesting a full refund without penalties.

Travellers are strongly encouraged to check flight status updates and ensure their contact details are current before heading to the airport.

While normal operations have resumed across UAE airspace authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to maintain the highest safety standards for all travellers.
