The landmark 50th edition of Frameline Film Festival is set to take place in San Francisco from June 17 to June 27 2026 bringing a powerful lineup of LGBTQ+ cinema to celebrate its historic milestone year.
Kicking off the festival at the iconic Castro Theatre is Lady Champagne directed by D’Arcy Drollinger. The film is a bold and comedic sequel that follows a performer navigating chaos intrigue and escape in a stylized drag comedy world. The project also features appearances from well known drag artists adding to its vibrant energy.
As part of the centerpiece programming the festival will present Barbara Forever by Brydie O’Connor. The documentary explores the life and legacy of influential filmmaker Barbara Hammer highlighting her groundbreaking contributions to queer cinema and her lasting cultural impact.
The Pride kickoff screening will spotlight Hunky Jesus directed by Jennifer M. Kroot. Narrated by George Takei the film focuses on a unique San Francisco tradition led by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence blending humor activism and community celebration.
Festival organizers emphasized that this year’s lineup reflects the creative spirit and cultural history of San Francisco showcasing stories of artists activists and performers who have shaped the city’s identity. The milestone edition highlights how the festival continues to evolve while honoring its roots in LGBTQ+ storytelling.
In addition to screenings a dedicated festival hub will open ahead of the event providing a gathering space for audiences and creators. Major partners supporting the event include Alaska Airlines Amazon Comcast NBCUniversal Gilead Sciences and Hilton San Francisco Union Square.
