With appealing flavours easy usage and no lingering smell many people are choosing e-cigarettes over tobacco. However health experts warn that this trend may come with serious risks that are often overlooked.
According to Dr Kunal Sood, vaping is not as harmless as it appears and may even be more dangerous than conventional cigarettes in several ways. Despite lacking tobacco combustion vaping devices still deliver nicotine along with a mix of chemicals that can affect the body over time.
One of the major concerns is the inconsistency in nicotine levels. Many vaping products are sold in loosely regulated markets making it difficult for users to know how much nicotine they are consuming. In some cases the levels can exceed those found in cigarettes increasing the likelihood of addiction. Higher nicotine intake can also raise heart rate blood pressure and anxiety levels.
Another issue is the growing social acceptance of vaping. Unlike smoking which is often restricted to designated areas vaping can be used more freely. This convenience leads to more frequent use throughout the day exposing the lungs to repeated chemical inhalation. Continuous exposure may increase the chances of lung irritation inflammation and long term respiratory damage.
