The International Cricket Council has unveiled its latest annual rankings update, confirming India national cricket team as the top-ranked side in men’s T20 internationals. With a strong rating of 275 points, India continues to lead the global standings, reinforcing its dominance in the shortest format of the game.
The ranking system follows a weighted formula where matches played since May 2025 carry full value, while performances from the previous two years contribute at 50 percent. This approach ensures recent results have a greater impact on the standings.
India’s consistent success has been a major factor behind their top position. Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the team achieved a historic milestone by securing back-to-back ICC Men’s T20 World Cup titles, including a successful defense in March 2026. This achievement made India the first team to win consecutive T20 World Cups, further cementing their legacy in international cricket.
Their World Cup campaign included a commanding victory over the New Zealand national cricket team in the final, highlighting their all-round strength and consistency. Beyond global tournaments, India has maintained impressive form in bilateral series, including notable wins against Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand, along with lifting the Asia Cup 2025 trophy.
Close behind India in the rankings is the England cricket team with 262 points, followed by the Australia national cricket team at 258. The competition remains tight among the top teams, with New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and West Indies also holding strong positions in the top seven.
In the women’s category, the Australia women’s national cricket team continues to lead the T20I rankings with 287 points, despite a slight drop in rating. England women remain in second place, while the India women’s national cricket team holds third position with 264 points.
The New Zealand women’s national cricket team, led by Amelia Kerr, currently sits fourth and will aim to defend their title at the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales later this year.
With rankings largely unchanged across both categories, attention now turns to upcoming tournaments, where teams will look to improve their standings and challenge the current leaders.
