Why Adrian Grenier Didn’t Return for The Devil Wears Prada 2 Despite Cameo Plans

Date:

The highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is set to release on May 1, bringing back major stars including Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt. However, one familiar face from the original film, Adrian Grenier, will not be returning.

Director David Frankel, who also helmed the original 2006 movie, recently explained that there were initial ideas to include Grenier in a cameo role. However, due to tight production timelines, the plan could not be executed before filming wrapped.

According to Frankel, the sequel’s production schedule was extremely compressed, leaving little room for additional scenes or last-minute casting decisions. As a result, the idea of bringing back Grenier’s character Nate was ultimately dropped.

Previously, Adrian Grenier had expressed disappointment about not being included in the sequel. He also acknowledged that audience criticism of his character in the original film may have influenced the decision.

Despite not appearing in the new movie, Grenier addressed the situation with humor, even referencing it in a recent advertisement. His lighthearted response has been appreciated by fans, reflecting a positive outlook on the situation.

The sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is expected to continue the story of the fashion world with its iconic characters, while introducing new dynamics and storylines for audiences.
